Building On A Solid Foundation

Becoming A Child Of God

A good life begins with a godly life. God created us to be in fellowship with Him. Unfortunately, our sins have alienated us from God. At Calvary, Jesus provided us access back to the Father through obedience to the Gospel. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Having put one’s faith in Jesus as the Son of God, we turn from the world and are clothed with Christ through baptism—an act in which we share in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (Gal. 3:27; Rom. 3:3-5). Our obedience to the Gospel gives us a solid foundation on which to build a life that is full of love, joy and peace.

The Ephesians 3:20 Principle

In Ephesians 3:20-21, the apostle Paul writes, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

God longs to bring glory to Himself through the lives of His children—you and me. His power is available to Christians to accomplish more than we could ever thing or even imagine. The key to the manifestation of this power in our lives is our availability to Him through His Spirit in Jesus Christ.

The Ephesians 3:20 Principle challenges Christians to make themselves available to God’s power through regular practice of spiritual discipline and service.

  • The “3” stands for 3 hours of church activities—1 hour in worship, 1 hour in Bible study and 1 hour in spiritual service using one’s spiritual giftedness.
  • The “20” stands for 20 minutes of daily spiritual practices—Bible study, prayer, meditation, etc.
